Silverman Ironman in Las Vegas

Long climbs... not the rollers that we see in the midwest... yes, it's tough!   gets really tough with 3 steep but short climbs near mile 85 or so... 

Run is in Henderson, so desert yes, but populated desert.  I hope this year goes well with all the financial mess that Las Vegas is in this year! 

Thanks for the response-I am a little nervous about the bike but not too much-I am a sub 20 minute 1500m swimmer so the swim is a piece of cake for me-Have you done the race previously-Did you enjoy it?

Yep, I have done it and am heading back next year...

On the swim, plan for rough water!  Just plan it that way.  Last year was entertaining.  i am a strong swimmer in any conditions and this one added 4 minutes to my "normal" times due to wind chop etc. 

For the bike, it really isn't that bad.  the open spaces make it interesting and rain always adds some fun (last year, I flatted 4 miles into the ride in the pouring rain)... the worst part of the ride mentally is the 3 sisters followed by the 5 mile or so false flat, once you are past that and off the trail, it is a pretty quick ride through henderson.
