Subject: What would you do? - Injured Shoulder I was lifting today (no this is not a thread on if I will get faster if I lift weights or not ) and separated/subluxed my shoulder. I did this a few years ago doing pushups (Dr said it was just from overuse and strengthen it to make sure it wont happen again ) so it is not a brand new injury but it is not a regular occurance. My problem is I have my A (and only ) race of the season in 2.5 weeks, Olympic Distance. I have been a lurker here for years and I have learned a ton of things and figured why waste my time at my Dr office when I could ask you fine folks (I pretty much know what my last Dr would say...rest, ice, here is a sling, and have a referral to physical therapy to strengthen it... I was strengthening it). I am not trying to offend the Drs out there and would love to hear your thoughts too. What would you do in this situation? I have a pretty good base, was in the middle of my Quality/speed work phase and was one week shy of starting my taper. Thoughts on rest this close to the race, alternate training ideas... |
