Subject: wet suits
i am interested in purchasing a wet suit, and the two i am looking at are the low end xterra ($400 - 50%) or the Blueseventy low end (200 - 20%).  In the end the Xterra would cost about $40 more.
i don't know much about either company - except (what i read off each web site) blue seventy has been doing wet suits since the early 1990's, and Xterra since 2001.
So is the xterra $400 suit really worth $400, or is it equal to the blueseventy.
Any info would be appreciated.

Both are good companies. Both make great wetsuits.

A $50 wetsuit that fits will be a million times better than a $400 wetsuit that doesn't fit you right.

Rent them each and see which one fits you best, then buy that one. Even with the same size different manufacturer's suits fit entirely differently.

After wearing out my Xterra Vortex2 I just ordered a Vortex3. I did look at the entry level Blueseventy suit but decided on the Xterra. Mainly because the Vortex2 had served me so well for the last year and a half. I start in the open water early in spring and swim until fall with at least two swims per week. Also, I didn't really like the shoulder materials and construction of the Blueseventy suit.

If at all possible, try them on.  I thought I wanted a zoot, and the make and materials were awesome, but it didn't fit.  That suit's arms were so tight my hands actually fell asleep.  I ended up with a Pro-motion that fits very well and I love it.

Good luck.
