Subject: Did I blow it?
I have a triathlon- olympic distance this Saturday.  Unfort. last week I got sick, and went on vacation for a couple of days, so my training time was way, way down- though I did do some.  I did not run at all, but biked once and swam twice.

This week is my taper week.  Should I just stick with my taper, or should I add a little more training time- in particular running- to the beginning of this week in hopes I will get back whatever I may have lost last week.

You will not gain any fitness in your last week. You can't undertrain at this point, but you can overtrain.

Stick to your taper plan. You will be fine.

It takes about 10 days to realize fitness gains.  Extra workouts now wont help you.  However the rest you took probably wont hurt you that much either.  Enjoy the race!

Stick to the game plan, you never know, the extra rest could be benefictal, instead of worn out trying to do too much work the week of the race.

I think to the key is to find that happy medium:  get your heart up up just a bit, but don't get into race mode.  You want to keep the body warm/moving so that come race day it doesn't become such a shock.

I would do as the others have said:  continue your taper and don't try to cram.

I got sick the week before the IM.  Took 3 full days off, had 3 days till the race and did super light taper training.  Recovery was the main priority.
