Subject: Ragnar - advice?

Hey folks.  I am running Ragnar's Great River Relay this Friday/Saturday and was looking for last minute tips from experienced Ragnar runners.  I've read all of the RRs I could find here on BT, but I thought I'd ask.

Let me know if there's anything special you wish you had known.  Thanks!

Get a hotel before the final push...where depends on which van you are, but I was in van 2, and we got a hotel in Stillwater before the tradeoff in Lake Elmo, and while half of us thought it was a waste of $$...we changed our minds after that. AMAZING what a couple hour power nap can do for you.

Also, bring a sleeping bag/thermarest, if you want to sack out, or even just stretch out in between vans.

Check your headlamps out now to see if they are runnable... A couple of people's were fine for camping/backpacking, but when they tried to run in them, they either A) weren't bright enough or B) bounced all over/didn't work real well while running.

Any sleep you get is a gift..enjoy it.

The most important part of this race is to have fun with your teammates.

Have one dedicated driver only.
No extra people in vans.
Be sure to rest during downtime.
Hotel is good idea for a quick hot shower as well. If the cost is shared, it is minimal.
Bring a bike for a pacer during the nighttime runs.
Support the other teams although they will become rivals over the course of the relay.
