For those of you who have raced or spectated IMFL, what suggestions do you have for support crews?  My hubby was asking if I knew the best places for him to watch the race, etc.  I have seen reference in recent threads to the turn around point on the bike being a good spot, but I thought I would ask to see what others thought from personal experience for each leg of the race.

IMFL is a loop course, so there isn't a 'turnaround' point.  We stayed at the Boardwalk condos (host hotel).  The transition area and finish line right there at the condo.  This made it easy for my support crew.  The saw me on the swim on the beach, then T1.  After that they went up to the condo and 6 hours later I saw them at T2.  For the run they went out on the run course and just walked around and crossed streets to see me at different points on the run course.  I think you'll figure it out once you get to the venue.

There were some support crews out on the bike course.  I mean way out on the bike course as in driving out there.  My support didn't do that.

Boardwalk Hotel (transition area) is probably the best you're going to do.  The swim is two loops, as is the run.  Just find something to do during the bike.  Last year, I went and played poker at the dog track during the bike leg.  Then stayed at the finish until midnight.  Really.   It was awesome!

Thanks, y'all.  I am pretty familiar with the course and the area because I did the Gulf Coast Tri.  I was referring to the half way point on the bike as I am thinking my husband will likely want to see me at least once on the bike course.  He was really looking for any suggestions that would not be immediately obvious when looking at the course map, like a cool restaurant on the bike path or somewhere cool on the run path.
