I have in laws that live around there.  I may do it.  What is the course like?  Flat and fast or hilly?

i have no idea, but i am assuming flat to mild rolling hills.  nothing crazy and the course seems short.

In, will be going out there Saturday to check it out, pick up my packet if it is ready... maybe.  There will be no bike racks, so you its either bring your own or lay the bike on the ground.  Little nugget from the pre-race paperwork.

Went and scouted it out today and the geography is pretty flat.  Didn't scope the run course exactly, but it should be relatively flat.  The bike course is up and down Longstreet AFAIK for three laps, which IMO had some areas of gradual inclines, but should be a fast bike course.   Looked like very nice clean pavement.  Met the lady who put this whole thing on and she put in a lot of effort for this thing, should be lots of fun.

Fun race, finished 3rd overall. Bike course wasn't as fast as I had hoped, but that was my fault not the courses. I was pretty tired from the swim. Swimming once a week isn't the recipe for success there. Came on near the end and got my legs going for the run... think I ran a sub 20 minute 5K. My watch had me @ 19:41. Anyway, race report once they post the numbers.

Results are up.  I take it you were number 53?  If so, I was the guy in front of you on the bike going into T2 that almost took out the crowd of a dozen spectators.  That was a little scary.

I am pretty sure the bike and run portions were significantly short.  I know I didn't run a sub  6 minute pace.

Yep, I was number 53.  Those times do look a little weird, but I'll take it... nice save btw.  I was on my brakes, I thought I was watching a train wreck when I saw you sliding the rear, looked like the front was locked as well.  Some parts of the course weren't so clear about where to go.  I felt like the swim was long, but I stink at swimming still so these 700m+ swims feel like marathon swims.  Great race!

I was Race # 12. I was the guy in front of you. I think the swim was pretty accurate.  The Bike was no more than 11.6 and run was 2.9.  I thought they did a great job setting up for their first tri.  Good race to both of you guys.

Patrick, you were smoking on that swim.  I tried to catch up with you on the bike/run, but just couldn't do it.  My Garmin showed the bike at 10.5 miles and run at 2.7 miles.  I don't know how the swim was, but I'm hoping it was long so I don't feel so bad about my time on that.

Did you have a nice round of golf afterwards?  I was talking to a lady that I guess was one of your friends and she said you took off to play golf.

I am pretty sure the swim was 750 instead of 700. This was only my third triathlon but the last 2 were 750 and my time would be consistent with those. It was hard when we made the first turn on the swim because the sun was making the second buoy impossible to see. Yes, I was also playing in the member/member golf finals and had a 9:15 tee time so I had to leave quickly. It was nice having a race in my own neighborhood. I saw you had a marine corps. half shirt on. I did that race also. How did you do?

No joke... I could have sworn I saw him backstroking in the first 250m looking back.   Great swim though.

This is my third as well and certainly not my last.  I know what you mean about the second leg, I stopped at least once just trying to figure out where I was going.  Anyway, I saw lots of people to the wide left and right of me on that second blind leg... it would have been better to swim clockwise in retrospect since I didn't really see the buoys until I was almost on top of them.  Otherwise these 700m+ swims feel like an eternity in the water for me.

Great race though guys, I'm sure I'll be seeing you around.  Of my three races I keep bumping into people I've seen from other races which is cool.
