I can tell you everything you need to know about how to get her insurance company to pay for all of the rapairs... and if you want to push the issue maybe some more...

I wish I was not an insurance weenie.

Glad you made out with no injuries.  Too bad about the bike but bikes can be replaced.  I would much rather have my bike been trashed when I crashed a couple years ago than the broken bones I had to wait on to heal.  Good luck finding a new bike for your race.

The only question I have out of curiousity is what type of lights were you running and what is the law in CO regarding bike safety
.

Just checked PA. Light/reflector only required sunset to sunrise

Thanks everyone.  I know we all try to ride safe out there, but hopefully these kinds of stories help remind us all that it can happen at any time.  I was just lucky enough to have time to react since I saw the situation begin to unfold in front of me, but it could have just as easily been the truck hitting me from the side had I been pedaling even a slightly faster cadence or not jumped on the brakes when I saw her start to go.

I kind of wish it was caught on tape though.  I could only imaging what cars driving behind me thought when they saw me slam into the side of the truck.

oh yeah, for the record, I had my heart rate monitor on... it was only 135bpm... then it spiked (I'm assuming that's about the time of impact), then it dropped down below 110 real quickly.
