What do I need to make my two wheels go faster?
I thought I had addressed this with my training this year vs last (logs are current) but the results are small. I was third out of the water and had the fastest run split in my age group this past weekend but finished fifth thanks to my nonstellar bike performance. My OLY speed has only crept up from the mid 18s to low 19s in the past year despite my training efforts. I am gathering that it can take years to get "cycling" legs from other threads. In comparison my running is much improved from last year after dropping some swim workouts for running and biking. I do long paced rides, trainer tempo stuff and live on top of a 200 ft elevation hill that I do repeats on. Is there a work out type I am missing? Do I just suck at cycling? Or do I just need "more time"?

Was going to comment on your low mileage but you have a lot of hours that don't have miles.

I will let eveyone else give the typical answers, but it was just putting in the time and miles for me.

I didn't really notice any significant amount of cycling improvement untill doing it for a couple years and trying to get in between 70 and 100 miles a week.  It should be more, actually.

Mixing it up helped me.  Spin classes and getting in some MTN bike time helped.  I had to push harder riding steeps and trails which helped in my road riding.

I only have miles when I am out on the road. My speedometer is on the front tire. If you see time and no miles then I was on the trainer.

How's the quality of your trainer workouts? Perhaps some more road time might help?
