Subject: Sandman Triathlon: Semi-Official Thread
Anyone planning on doing this race on Sep 20 in Virginia Beach?  It's the weekend following Patriot's in Williamsburg.

I'm wondering if I should rent a wetsuit for this event.  Water temps seem to average mid 70's.

Thinking about this one as well.. really enjoyed my ocean swims while on vacation in the OBX recently.  In fact I prefer it to fresh water.  Water was cool, but I swam in it nonetheless, forget what the temps were though.  Some areas were cooler than others, swim along hit a real cold spot and then you'd be in warmer water in a few 100m.  Also ran a 5K while on vacation setting my PR (20:25) since it is about as flat out there as you will find.  Imagine the bike section will be a fast one as well.

Well just checked and they have closed registration... but they note if they don't get the number of people picking up packets to fill the race, they will open those slots up.  Seems like a long way to drive for a gamble... although my wife said "we'd still be at the beach" with a little smile.
