This is so sad, if anyone hears about a fund or any types of events, etc for this cyclist please post it so that we may be involved.

My heart goes out to the cyclist and the family - speedy recovery!

I'll ask around work.  A friend of mine told me about this today.  We see the Red Mountain Brumby's out up here all the time (they went by as we were heading out on last Thursdays morning ride), I sure hope this guy was not a Brumby (mentioned in this thread) as they had a HORRIBLE weekend.  Luckily an EMT was on the scene as the guy who hit the back of the SUV had a severed esophagus.  DAMN.

I'm confused by the quotes in the article (well not really, but humor me).  The driver couldn't complete the sobriety test because he "was too drunk" but then said "he was glad he was stopped because he could of 'killed himself or someone else'." 

So the guy knows he's too drunk to drive, is glad to be stopped but yet acknowledges "striking" something and yet drove on?

Hey Team –

Last Saturday, 8/22, Team Aquaphor Athletes, Julia Purrington and Richard Paradis, were struck by a car while riding their bicycles in Colorado. Julia has major damage to both her legs but has no “life threatening” injuries. Doctors estimate she will be in a wheelchair for at least 6 weeks as she tore her left MCL and right ACL and LCL. Richard was just moved from the ICU to the MTU (Multi Trauma Unit) where he has recently been able to start breathing on his own, talking, and recognizing his friends and family who have come to visit.  During the crash Richard sustained a serious head injury, several fractured ribs, a punctured lung, and a fractured vertebra. Needless to say Richard has a long road to recovery but based on his progress thus far and the support of his friends, we are confident he’s going to come out stronger than ever.

The local community has rallied behind both Julia and Richard and have setup an Open Water Swim Race in Grant Ranch, CO for this Sunday, September 6^th. All proceeds from this event will go towards Julia and Richard’s recovery efforts. The Aquaphor brand has already committed to match all donations made for this event up to $5,000 and Active Marketing Group will also be donating money to help both Julia and Richard with their recovery.

We encourage you all, if possible, to donate to this cause as both Julia and Richard are dealing with very high medical bills and could use all the help they can get.
