So, about how often does Xterra have their super sale on wetsuits?

I won't need to use one again until next spring...but a sleeveless for $99 is a great deal and I don't want to miss out and end up paying $250 in six or eight months.

What are the chances that they will do a similar sale before the start of next season?

They seem to have 50% sales fairly regularly - every 2 months or so I would guess.

Someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the current sale linked above is even better than the usual sale.  I don't remember them having a sale for quite that cheap before... not sure you could count on it happening again.

I'm in the same boat by the way... wasn't planning on getting another suit until next season or so but very tempted to grab one now!

I'm right there with you (both).  My guess is that they are getting rid of a surplus discontinued model.  I have seen them advertise 50% off on several occassions throughout the season, but nothing as cheap as $99.  And if I remember correctly, it's always been the same one that is on sale now.  Which may mean they won't have a 50% off sale until they have another discontinuted model... when will that be?

I may have to get one and let it sit in the closet for the winter.  Then again, I may have to register for another tri this fall so I can use it.  Motivation?

This sale is better than usual, but my guess is that it might cost you $50 at most to wait.

I bought mine in May for 99$.  I haven't seen them that cheap until this sale.

Most often they seem to be 149$ for the Vortex 3 John.

I was wondering if anyone could attest to the accuracy of their sizing chart?

I am 6'2 and 185, fairly lean build...when I look at xterra's sizing chart it puts me at a medium/large.  Is this chart typically correct for those that own.

Seems like a good sale to purchase my first wetsuit.

If you're worried - e-mail them.  I was concerned about sizing and I sent them my weight and measurements just to be sure.  (I'm in Canada and I didn't want to have to ship it back.)  However, you have 30 days to exchange sizes.

They were really helpful with all my questions.

I'm 6'1'' and 165 lbs.  I got the Med/Long as directed and it fits perfectly... well, tightly as expected.

Hey their sizing chart's good man I'm 6'4" and super skinny and lanky and was fine with whatever i got (dunno the size right now) hahaha

Anyway, to answer the main question I constantly get emails from Xterra about new specials, I would say about once every 2 months so don't worry the deals will be around.

I'm stoked I just bought a new wetsuit. My QR is a bit too small and I was willing for fork 2X as much for a replacement. Thanks BT and X-terra Laughing

Ordered the vortex 3 john according to their size chart (WM) 10 days ago.  Raced with it yesterday.  Fit well.  Works great.

Ok, I'm a little late to this, with the today being the last day of the sale, but I want/need a wetsuit for next season and I was planning on researching and buying something later in the off-season.

What are the general opinions of Xterra wetsuits? Is $149 for a full a can't miss deal or is it worth it to spend more $$$ on a higher quality model/brand?

at most races you'll be surrounded by xterra suits, just because its 99 doesnt mean its not a good suit.  I ordered based on the size chart and i love the fit and feel of my sleeveless.

I have the vortex 2 from last year have have liked it.  This is my first year so I don't have any good comparison.   If you get the fit right, I am sure it would be a good suit for you.

That being said, you shouldn't feel rushed into getting this without the proper research.  There will be another xterra wetsuit sale..there alway is.

I just pulled the trigger and bought the full for $149. Although half the fun of buying things, for me, is doing tons of research beforehand, getting it now means I get to try it out before Lake Michigan gets too cold!

Thanks for the help!

I bought the full suit during their sale in November last year. Wore it for Oceanside (59deg?) and it worked great! Wasn't cold and I'm not very tolerant to cold water swims.  I'd definitely recommend one at their sale prices.
