My advice: Stop worrying about it, and run your own race.

ETA: And I'd say that if you said you were doing 1:00/100; 24 mph; 5:40 mm or 3:00/1:00; 13 mph; 11 mm.

You are overthinking this.

Swim.

Bike.

Run.

enjoy.

Hello

Sounds like we would race together.

I have been swimming for 8 weeks now and I swim at 345-4 min 100' meters.  Its slowly getting better.  I fact I am headed to the pool in a few minutes.

Your bike time in the race will be faster because you will be pumped up and you will only have to ride for 10 to 13 miles.  I was the same 16 mph on my bike during longer rides but cranked out 20 mph in my first race for 13 miles.

Now the run you would take me right now but my times are slowly coming down and I hope to be down around 10 min miles next season.

Sounds like you are trying to talk yourself out of racing.  Dont worry! Everyone around you will be helpful and it will be motivating.

Enjoy!

titeloops - for the bike, what are you riding (Road, Tri, Hybrid, MTB)?  Do you have clipless pedals, aerobars, etc?

Hate to say it but you can buy yourself some speed there if you are not fully equipped.  Next for me is a disc cover.  Now I just have to find that site that builds them.
