HI everyone,

I am a tinkerer by nature and I figured I'd share this here.

After having my wheel go out of true a few times and my good friend Charlie (The Lunchbox) teach me how to true a wheel in the parking lot of the beach where we do our OWS (it's amazing how much I've learned about triathlon in that parking lot). I decided it was time to get a truing stand.  I looked at the prices of them and was astonished, so I figured I'd try to make my own.

I started with a Thule front wheel carrier http://www.thuleracks.com/product.asp?dept_id=8&sku=593)which I never use.

I mounted it to a quickly made wood base and drilled 1/4" holes through the sides to line up with a 700c rim.

Then I put 1/4" machine screws through the holes with a nut on each side for stability... and, here it is.

Nice!  I've seen people do it with old forks too.

Only problem is ..... you're limited to the wheels you can put in - basically 700c there.  Of course you could drill more holes and move the bolts for a mountain bike wheel (assuming not a '29er' of course).

That is exactly what I was thinking...
