Does anyone have any recommendations for strong reliable wheels that resist going untrue for around $100-$150 (w/o cassette) that I can use for training rides or on the trainer?  If I were to get a wheel like that, I would not be concerned with the weight/aerodynamics of it... just strength.

Seriously, if you're looking for $100 to $150 for a wheelset you may be SOL, unless you look for used. You can get a mostly bulletproof set of Mavic Open Pros with Ultegra hubs for $200-$300 a set.

I'd hawk ebay at that price. You might be able to find a set of mavic ksyrium equipes used.I have a set of those on my bike and they came stock. Started riding on them at 215lbs or so and now I'm about 190lbs. 1,500 miles or so of mashing on them pretty good and they are still solid.I just bought a new pair of wheels, but want to save them for winter riding or else I'd sell them to you...You could find a set of the Mavic Aksium's at that range too, I have no first hand knowledge of them, but they seem to get decent reviews at that price range. You could check roadbikereview.com too for more reviews of lower end wheels...

Sorry, I meant for just a rear wheel... not a wheelset

Listen to the Bear and get yourself the ultimate training wheels. Seriously, nothing is as strong as a 32-spoke Mavic OP laced to a decent hub (Ultegra, Campy Chorus, etc.)
