Subject: trust the plan, right?

So Im training for IMFL and following the last half of Gale B.'s 26 wk to IM plan. - before that I was doing her 26 to HIM plan. Anyway, Im doing just about all the prescribed workouts (little short on swim for now but not worried).  Im just getting a bit panic-y seeing all the other IMFL peeps doing WAY more training than my plan prescribes. I've gotten up to 4.5 hr ride which was no problem and so far everythings fine but I just am afraid that it won't be enough. Just stick to the plan, right?

Well, you're far enough out that if you don't feel like the plan is working for you, you can still switch.  However, if you did enough research and do believe in the plan, then yes, trust it.

Do you believe your execution of the plan is getting you ready to hit your goal?  If so, keep trusting it an don't worry about the monster volume other peeps are putting up.  If it's not, are you hitting the training with the intensity expected to hit your goals or do you think the plan just isn't right?

You're up to 4.5 hours on the bike with 8 weeks to go.  You're feeling good and not sick, not injured.  That's a large part of what the plan is supposed to do (keep you from getting so worn down you end up sick or injured).

Trust the plan.

Trust your plan.

4.5 hours is PLENTY at this point!  You still have 6 weeks until the taper!  Not everybody is cut out to do huge volume for months and months before their IM.

The one thing I don't like about sites like this.  Everyone comes to compare their training volume, and those that don't have as much as others start to get nervous (and rightfully so).  Trust your plan, you'll do great

Thanks - keeping healthy and non injured is a huge part of training and one I didn't think of. Yes - Im feeling stronger and capable of completing the workouts as perscribed so that's the important part.  Just keep plugging along and don't get injured is the game plan.

Chris, I agree, it is so hard not to compare hours/totals, etc!!!

To heck with the plan!  I figure a plan is mostly just a suggestion.....

My IM training plan is s/b/r as much as I can during the week include one long bike and one long run on the weekend.

Oh, I should caveat this the fact that I'm a rebel....a total nonconformist....and a BOPer.

TRUST THE PLAN!!!!

I went through alot of doubt, wondering if my plan was working, and then every so often I'd hit an awesome workout. Trust it. Stick with it.

Alright I just did that plan for my IMLOU and I was worried also. I did the first 13 weeks from the 26 week plan and then switched to the 13 weeks to a 13 hour IM. My goal was to finish sub 14. It was actually just to finish because this was my first one but I had the secret goal of sub 14. I saw everyone else doing way more and got freaked out. I also missed a few workouts do to family stuff and an injury. So I did the IM this weekend and finished in 13:26. It was not a sufferfest and I had a good time. Sure if I had done more training it may have gone easier and faster but I did not have the time to dedicate. So yes trust the plan and you will get to the finish.
