Subject: To steam or not to steam?
I'm new to Tri Training and i was just wondering if it was benefitial, harmful or neither to jump in the steam room for a few minutes after a workout?

I do not know the benefits or ill effects but I enjoy it and if I have the time after swimming I do 5 in the hot tub, 5 in the steam room, and 5 in the dry sauna all while drinking some water to stay hydrated (To me that is the key - hydration).

So if you enjoy it - keep it up!

Add 5 minutes in the cold dip and thats perfect.

x2 on the relaxation/mental after a workout.  Would love a plunge pool at LTF, but I'll have to wait for them to open my suggestion box submittal.

x3 on the mental thing. I go into the dry sauna after swim.  FOr a few brief moments I feel like I'm on vacation and at a spa.  And there's something so relaxing about being enveloped by that warmth!  The perfect top off to a swim session.

Just drink some water before entering and you're good. Perfect place to relax the body and think about the workout (mental training is very much neglected...)

I already lose 3-4 lbs during each swim workout.   If I did this I'd have to change my "official weighing day" to right after the steam room. ;-)

Sadly I despise steam rooms and saunas.
