Ok, mentally I dont subscribe to taper madness (but I am also writing this day one of the taper   ).  Instead of freaking out, know that your training has gotten you where you are race ready (assuming you did it- if ya didnt, maybe search 'freaking out')  Anywho, instead of obsessing about things you cant change like the weather, now is the time to make yourself as mentally and physically as ready as you can for the big day.  The former means know your race plan- pacing, hydration, equipment for all conditions, etc.  Visualize those moments in the AM how you will get ready- visualize your azz crossing that finish line.  Physically, get your rest, let nagging injuries heal best they can.  Get your sleep and with the decreased workload, ease back on the feedbag a bit.  Now is a time for reflection and to put the spit shine on the bike, maybe get those teeth whitened for the finishers pic or something.  Oh yeah, you still gotta do the race, but this is the time to stay short and sharp and get yo azz race ready.  Gameday is just around the corner!   EEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!

Well, for you it would be a high five, to those people standing on the side they would have to bend down and do a low five.   (just teasing, DJ).

I have a nagging feeling that I am under trained, so I'm tossin' the whole "taper" idea out the window and hittin' a big race simulation this weekend - 4000 yd OWS, century, 16 mile brickey...

Who's with me?! Onward into the abyss!

I'm really traying to figure out my hydration for race day:  Miller High Life? Spotted Cow? Bloodys Mary's? or maybe a combination of all three.

Miller High Life? If you're gonna be in Madison you need to enjoy a Madison beer, try something from Ale Asylum, or even Capital (Middleton - close enough). You'll get drunk a lot faster.

I really think you need all three...  but order of consumption is critical to ensure top performance all day...  obviously you'll want to start with the bloody mary...  ideally made spicy...  with a lot of condiments to go with it...  need to build that solid base early...  then i think you transition into the spotted cow...  and i think this is were you just hammer it...  you just go after these and really push the pace hard...  depending on how you feel.. you may just want to stick with the spotted cow...  with a comfortably aggressive pacing strategy you should be okay here... however if you need to back it off a little...  thats when you move into the miller high life... and then you can basically just coast it to the finish line from there...

however, its critical to get out fast though... so you're not playing catch up all day...  i'm confident you can nail this one clint...  i'll be there to cheer you on...!!!

^^I agree with that strategy Clint, and I am sure that you and Craig will be in fine form.

As for me, the legs feel really good, and mentally I feel ready at this point.  Just some last minute logistics to work out and I think we are good.  I know I did the training I could and I am ready to go.  Once this shoulder thing gets taken care of I will really be ready.  It feels better today, except I still can't cough, laugh, or sneeze without some nice sharp pain, but one more ART appointment if it isn't better by Wednesday and I think it will be fine.  heck, we have 13 days.  My biggest problem is to not check out mentally from some other duties, like WORK.

I am FREAKIN out.  My taper looks like it is going to be cold turkey... 'freeeek-kin stones.'  Looking to recover from the procedure and hopefully be pain free come the 13th.  It also looks like my plan and goals need to be adjusted...long, slow, and injury free.
