Congrats IM!!!!  And good on ya for having that frank discussion with your cardiologist.  Most docs live in another world of very sedentary patients where 4 METS (climbing 2 flights stairs) is "good exercise tolerance" so good communication is key.  I had a similar experience 3 yrs ago when, after a health prob my doc initially said I could return to my "normal activity".  When I described my typical group bike rides (i.e. 2hrs @ 85-95% max HR) he said "I don't want you doing THAT!".  Over the next year I gradually increased my activity & had more testing. Later that year I rode RAIN (161mi in 1 day) & brought my finisher's medal to next appointment.  He actually seemed proud.  Must be good to see patients do better than expected.
