I always feel a little discombobulated after the swim and after the bike as I head into transition. I find this to be particularly true with the swim to bike transition, it's just hard to get my head on straight and it definitely slows my transition times down.

In my last oly, I tried walking a bit more out of the water into T1 rather than running. Any other strategies on getting better at this. It's not full blown dizzyness but it'd be nice to get moving out of the water so as not to waste time in transition.

Wear ear plugs during the swim. Yes, I'm serious. Trying it is about $.20 and I'd be willing to bet it'll help at least some if not eliminate the screwy feeling out of the water entirely.

Ah that's interesting. I've seen some discussion about ear plugs but mostly it seemed people used them because they didn't like water in the ears. I actually have some ear plugs that were a give away at a recent try, that's great advice. I'll try them in the pool.

I certainly don't feel the same sort of feeling after the bike, more just that it takes me .5 miles to get my feet back under me.

If you are really on your game and are fully aware and on top of things are you then combobulated?

Yeah but rubber legs is normal after T2.

The ear plugs thing caught me entirely by surprise. I've never been motion sick in my life and don't mind water in the ears but I almost have to sit down for a minute in T1 if I don't have ear plugs in for the swim.

The ear plugs really do help.  If I forget mine during my practice sessions (havn't had my first tri yet) I get dizzy in the first few laps and it's hard to continue.  With them, i'm pretty much fine.  Must have something to do with getting water in your ear and your equilbrium getting off.

Ear plugs helped me completely as I always got very dizzy especially after swimming in cold water.

The cold water in your ears play with your equilibrium sense so ear plugs will help
