Subject: Ride on the nose of the saddle for 112 miles?
For 40K or shorter I love to ride on the nose of the saddle. I feel that I have the most power while in the aero bars sitting there. But for Ironman I can't imagine riding there for 6+ hours.

I have a Selle San Marco Ponza Trilon saddle, the one that comes stock on the Cervelo P2C, and I can't seem to find the sweet spot for riding in aero over long distances. The nose is nice and cushy for nose riding but when I try to sit a little further back on the saddle, I find the well padded nose gets in the way. Should I try a different saddle or is this something I need to get used to?

I seriously doubt any of us who have done an Ironman ride on the tip of the saddle for 112 miles.  With that said, go a ahead and try some different saddles.  Probably most economical way is to find some slightly used ones and try those, then you can resell the ones that do not work.

I've heard it referred to as 'tipping'.  I do it for maybe a few minutes at a time when I am busting a move.  Any more and I'd bustanutt.  I have moved my seat as far forward as possible.  I'd like to get a different bike with geometry putting me as close to on top of the crank as possible.  Try putting your seat as far forward as it'll go.  You may not have to tip or be poked so much then.  Dunno.  Just my .02.

I ride the nose of my saddle for every race distance.  Actually the only rub spot on my saddle is about 3" from the nose on either side.  Granted, when I come out of Aero, my hips shift and slide back a bit, but I don't stay out of aero for long.

I'd say at IM KY I was in Aero for 100 out of the 112 miles easily.  The stock saddle on the P2C is horrible, IMHO!  But your body will get use to it.

Are you atually on the very tip or on top of the nose?  No kidding, I am curious as I ride the very tip and I wonder what it might do to me for an extended distance (on the inside.)

I'd say I use the front 3" of the saddle and not much more.

I think I am all the way forward.  It is no fun, really.

I ride the tip too, but because of that I have the Adamo saddle.  No tip to make your junk go numb!
