  • 1.9 miles
  • 14m 07s  min/mile
Comments:

It was hot and the creek bed was like running on the soft sand of a beach.
What would you do differently?:

On this part nothing. But I am still early in my base training so...

Comments:

I was not in shape for this ride...At all! Perhaps it was a bit over my head but it was a very hard course.
What would you do differently?:

Train harder
Transition 2
  • 05m
Comments:

I was very tired and this part was more of a blur
What would you do differently?:

Be in better shape
Run
  • 1h 10m 39s
  • 3.3 miles
  • 21m 25s  min/mile
Comments:

This was more like a walk than a run. If I would have tried to run much of the course my body would have quit. Knowing the shape my body was in at that point, I wanted to finish.
What would you do differently?:

Train harder
Post race
Warm down:

Massage

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Lack of training. I have been training for a litte over a month and wanted a race to train towards. I had no idea the course would be so hard.

Event comments:

The Xterra people were wonderful and made the race great. My body made it bad...for me !

Overall: 60/95
Performance: Average
Course: Very Hot and Hilly...After the 1st 200 yards we headed up a mountain which was steep but short. Then we followed a single track trail further up the mountian eventually heading back down the other side into a dry creek bed. The course wound around back to the transition area.

Course: BRUTAL...After a fire road climb that was pretty subtle, we made a hard left turn up into the mountainous single track. The track was pretty washed out and dry and very steep in parts. I spent alot of time pushing the bike up the hills which I have never done till then. But this was a very hard course. One to the top the downhill was fun but always ended back up with a hill to climb or push

Course: Almost the same as the first run but longer. Still had to do the first hill and it almost finished me. Walked much of this course as it was hot and my legs were weak from the ride. I have never walked this much of the course.

Congrats on finishing the Xterra Du! The courses are definitely difficult. I know what you mean about the "run" being more of a walk. It was the same for me for my first Xterra tri last month. The trail was more of a hiking trail, and I couldn't run in lots of spots.

But you finished, which is great!

Congrats on completing your race! Mtn bike duathlons are not easy. I am impressed! You give me inspiration for my first tri in July!
