Subject: Tri Bike v Tricycle
So I'm considering a new bike. I've narrowed it down to

A Cervello P4 or a Radio Flyer Tricycle.

The Frame of the Cervello is Carbon Fiber versus Classic steel for the tricycle.
The Tricycle uses propriatary hardware versus Shimano DA components for the Cervello.
The Tricycle is more stable at low speeds, which would make it better in transition.
The Tricycle has a tendency to tip over during high speed manuvering, and has no brakes appart from leg braking. This could be a positive thing for leg fitness.
The Cervelo is about 7k$ versus 50$ for the tricycle, clearly the Tricycle is the better option here.
The Cervelo has options for wheels, handlebars and components, the tricycle has options for tassels and a bell.
The Cervelo is wind tunnel tested, the tricycle is Radio Flyer approved.

Too much resistance on the fat, knobby tires, though.

Throw on some clipless pedals on the red trike and it becomes a tossup.

At least on the tricycle you'd be original.

Disc wheels are faster, so it's logical to conclude that if you put TWO discs on rear wheels of the tricycle, it would be faster than the P4... regardless of color.

I think one thing that everyone is over looking is with the current handle bar set-up on the tricycle you would be pretty much upright, BUT if you were to take the handlebars and spin them around (no brake cables to content with) now you have a more aerobar type position.

That is just part of the bike fit though, any good shop should be able to work with you on that.

When I was a kid we'd take trikes and turn them upside down and flip the stem.

Then someone invented this:

It's so hard for a 12 year old to get a patent attorney.

You'll be faster on the trike by at least 1-2.5 mph.  Solid data to back this up can be found here.

I hear the Tricycle body position, especially when in aero. will help save your legs for the run...

OMG...I am ashamed of you all...how quickly ye forget...If you want REAL SPEED...you assume the the secret weapon of the Trike...one can stand on the rear platforms...assume the ultimate aero position...and push off with alternate legs...Iditarod fashion (imagination needed to recreate dog team)...no one could compete with that...don't you remember?!?!?!

What a visual...800 guys/gals stoking it downhill on trikesCool
Heck someone should come up with a 50/50/50 (50 yards water with water wings...50 on trike...50 on old steel-4-wheeler-tie-over-your-shoe-skakes...) (hey Aqua girl...I gotta brand new pair of roller skates???you gotta a brand new key????) (how many on this site know what those are?Tongue out)

I'm going with Big Wheels, your competition can hear you coming and you can slide the rear end through all the turns.
