I'm going to do it. It will be my first Oly. triathlon. I did my check today to see if I have what (I think) it takes to do it. I did the whole swim and the whole bike and saved my legs for race day. Based on that I think I can do it even if I have to walk part of it. I think my total time was 2:17 min for the bike and swim. Is that really slow, middle of the pack? And is there a time limit? I figure I'll probably run about a 10-11 min. mile. So, I guess tack on another hour(ish). 3:30 maybe?
Frank.

I had signed up to race, but I'm injured.  I'll be volunteering instead and cheering everyone on!  I've got my fingers crossed for good weather

The participant e-mail I got said that they need everyone off the course by 11:45 - if they start on time, your 3:30 should get you in under the wire.

I think that also answers your original question. But don't worry about it - finishing feels great no matter what the time.

I'm actually not sure I understand the question. DO I think my swim split was a little fast? I don't know what you mean. I swam OK, under 30 minutes. I could have went faster. My t-1 was slow because I attempted to pull on a bike shirt after loosing the wet suit. I won't do that again! So, I guess I don't see an answer to your question in there. Please explain....I'm new.
Hey, did anyone else think the course was a little (to say the least) hilly? It would have been nice if they would have mentioned that in there info. Crap! 12 miles of hills. The first 12 miles! One more vent and then I'm done, more water on hot days then less. OK, I'm done! Other than that, I had a good time. If I would have known about the hills I would have done better, I didn't know what hit me and it just kept hitting me....ouch! Also, I should have done more bricks, that would have helped. Next time!
What awesome weather!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think he meant that the timing chips may have been off (not a comment on your actually swimming ability).  I did a BuDu race earlier this year and the initial results said I did the swim in 5 minutes; I knew that was wrong. The results were updated the next day and they had to adjust all the times by 4 minutes.

I did the the swim leg of the race today and found a nice pool of boat gas - anyone else get to enjoy that?

I knew he was criticizing my swimming, although, It could use it! Anyway, no boat gas, but I did hit the waves left by some boat. They were pretty big rollers. Forget all that though, those damn hills! Ha!

Hi Frank -- My question was not intended to be critical of your swim, or anyone else's.  Based on other OWS races I've been in the past month or so the split I had today was VERY fast.  It'd be nice to think I've improved, but the magnitude of the difference (about 3 min) has me wondering if the times are wrong or, perhaps more likely, the course was not a full mile.

Regarding the hills.  Yes, it is quite the hilly course - I looked it up on mapmytri.com and hit the 'show elevation' box a couple weeks ago.  That prompted me to take my son on a ride of the course -- he wasn't happy with me because of all the hills.  On the other hand, there were a few downhill sections that were a lot of fun!

I missed the fuel in the water.  The rollers were a surprise, I think they knocked a guy off my legs for a few minutes.  But they weren't bad.

And yes, more water at the finish line would have made the day a bit more pleasant.  A big guy like me needs H2O at the end & waiting for one tiny cup after another was annoying.

I thought that Budu did a terrible job.... 2 bouys, bad course descriptions (yes a hilly-rolling hill course), and not enough water or volunteers out on the run course.... And the finish line water--- A joke.  I finally went to the aid station on the run course to fill my own water bottle and I ended up staying there to help this teenage girl (she was the only one there) pass out water... A joke out there!  No swag...etc..

These races are expensive.  Step up your game BUDU!!!

Great job to all finishers!!!
