Yes I know how to search, yes I know this has come up before.

We have a new dog, shelter rescue, 1 year old female shepherd mix.

It is my bday tomorrow, so the fam has this setup as my "gift" and now the mrs. is suggesting that we come up with a triathlon-themed name.

I have seen Kona on the boards before, but I am long ways off from the IM world, let alone its championship.

So thoughts on some aspect of tri or brands that would double as faithful pet name?

New pup

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

I hope she brings you a LOT of good times.  Thanks for saving her.  You can tell she is happy by the look in her eyes.

How about Garmina.  We have a GPS and my wife has given it a female name, yea I know but she names everything.  Bikes, vehicles, etc.  Instead of Garmin it is Garmina.  Not necessarly a tri name but most people use a GPS for triathlons.

I don't know... I keep looking at her picture and those beutiful eyes and think Maggie. She just seems to be so happy by her picture and many years of love to give. "Yep, Maggie"!

Snoop is the only name you should ever name a dogg.

Kuddos on the shelter rescue.  All three of our dogs are rescues...one actually from the streets themselves.

Not sure what kind of name but Kona does sound cool.  Personally she "looks" like a "Sadie" to me for some reason.

Best of luck on the name and I am sure, regardless of her name, she will make a great family member for years to come!  Congrats!

Olympia??  Or is that something that sounds like it's too long for a name?

Yay! Rescues are my favourite breed!

And she does look so happy - she knows she has a long rewarding life ahead of her. But as for names - I dunno, I'd have to hang with her for a bit and see who she is.

She looks sooo much like Chloe, the first dog my hubby and I ever got (a shepard mix from a rescue.) Chloe was my constant companion for 16 years (she went to the barn with me everyday when I was a horse trainer... such a perfect dog -- everyone said she was more like a human than a dog!)

Anyway, no idea on the name, but I just love the happy look on her face! It looks like she's thinking "Kewl, I got a new family. And they live in Malibu -- bonus points!"

Squeee! I luff her! My pets' names usually come to me about a week after I've brought them home . . . all except for my current dog, Winnie. After I visited her for the first time at the pound, I had a dream that I adopted her, and in my dream her name was Winnie.

What kind of bike do you ride? Maybe you could name her after that? Or your favorite brand of tri gear? Then you could write them a fabulous letter about their newest spokesmodel and hope for discounts.

does she already have a name? or a complete shelter rescue and not a drop off?

Really hard to name a dog without knowing its personality.

Going with a Hawaiin theme though, how about : Lono - god of peace and prosperity, wind and rain, one of the Hawaiin Gods? Short, easy to say, easy to call, and portends a well behaved pet (if she is then the name fits, if she is not then it is ironic   )

Congrats and good luck with her, oh and Happy Birthday!

My dog's name is Ollie... hence my name here.  I named her after Oliver Hardy from Laurel and Hardy, although she is much more of a Stanley Laurel.  Oh, and she's the best dog in the world.

Too bad it's not a boy, you could go with Clyde.
