O.K. gang, short of slipping out onto the course and acting like I belong there, where else can I get in a quick 4-6 miler on Sunday during the race?
The deal is this, I am racing OKC on the 19th but volunteering at Moo. I will have two breaks between 9 and noon and 5:30 and 7:30.....leaning towards running a bit of the course (using sidewalks so I look like a casual runner, etc.).  I need to get in a few miles to stay fresh and maybe see a bit of the run course....suggestions??

Thanks,
Paul

not sure if its on/part of the course or not but running in the arboretum is always my favorite run.    I used to live right by the capitol building and if I ran from there into the arboretum and back I could get in 8 miles easily.  Another good option is just starting to run around monona on an out and back.  There's some pretty neighborhoods and the road follows the lake well without any twists or turns to get you lost.  The lakeshore path is part of the course and I don't think it would be too easy to run it without being part of the race.

I've got a 10 mile run on Sunday that I'll start after my friend gets out of the water. I'll probably run parallel to the run course on a side street.

I cant remember if they have the bike path shut down that goes from the Terrace to Olin Park?  This is parallel to the start of the bike so you can zip down from the terrace to just a bit past Olin Park and head on back no problem.  The bike path goes a ways so you can probably get a 10 mile out and back in easy and for sure a 6 miler.  You basically follow John Nolen Road south.

I thought part of this stretch was the no pass zone on the bike course so we wouldn't be able to run on it....hmm....

You can run on the lakefront path during the race. Bikes won't be on this section. You could easily get as many miles as you'd want just following the trail south from the terrace. You will jump onto one stretch of road between I think Lakefront St and Olin Ave. Otherwise it's all path.
