I didn't realize it was Bike-to-work Day today, but I was just lamenting this on the bus this morning. I live about 25 miles from my work, so given my 15 mph average, I'm looking at about a 1 hour, 40 minute ride each way; and that's assuming no stopping, which is highly unlikely in traffic, of course. I'd also have to bike along a busy highway that is under construction (read: very little shoulder) much of the way, so I don't think I'll be biking to work anytime soon, unfortunately.

Would you really want to see a DR. with helmet hair and all sweaty?????

LOL...it would be better than an overweight doctor that couldn't ride a bike to work if he tried! At least you and I could talk triathlon stuff! How about moving your practice to north-central Massachusetts!

Oooops....unless you're an OBGYN, then forget I said anything....

Well, I WAS going to ride. But, i started to reconsider it because I've been really beat since my 15k race last weekend, and it clinched it when the weather didn't cooperate. I did it last year in the rain. Kind of a pain. I'll do it next week instead.

Yep, I rode to work today, but I do try to do this about once a week. 19km and 45 minutes to get here about 50 minutes to get home because of the hills.

National Bike to work Day, National Bike Month - What a great idea! Why didn't I think of this?

I think I am going to email my Prime Minister and tell him we need to have a National Bike Month and Bike to Work Day. Our people spend way too much money already on fuel (which we do not produce) and eventhough we don't have to drive as far as most North Americans to go to work... well, that's even more reason to bike to work. We'd save a lot of money and time biking to work. I mean, I watch people stuck in traffic everday just to get from point A to point B, which by bicycle would take me half the time it takes them. It only makes too much sense. I guess that's why more people here don't ride to work.

thanks to high speed networks I work from home most of the time. I ride at the end of the day to clear my head....

I bike to work about once or twice a week.  13-15 miles depending on the route I choose.  The longer the ride, the fewer hairy "traffic sprints."  The ride includes the infamous Yolo Causway - a wind swept stretch along side a 70 mph freeway (separated by a concrete barrier and chain link fence.)

Today, I got 1/4 of the way home, realized I forgot my keys.  Road back, got the keys, and decided to take the bus.  Road 4 miles to the nearest bus stop, put my bike on the rack and spent 30 minutes on the bus, stuck in traffic.

I did have one "bike to work day" worthy breakthrough.  Usually, I leave my laptop at work if I know I'm going to ride the next day.  Subsequently, I never ride on Mondays or Fridays because I always take it home on the weekends.  Well, today I carried it home the whole way in my Camelbak.  Didn't seem any heavier than when my Camelbak is full of water.  So now, I can ride to work 5 days a week if I want to.
