HOWDY!

My name is Michael and I am a engineering student at Texas A&M University. I am 22 and have always wanted to try TRI.

So here I am. I am a runner and a cyclist. I do swim (lol: I think that's what you call my strange looking form in the water) but not well.

In college I played Lacrosse the past 2 years.

Ummm........not real sure what else to say other then Hello everyone and thank you for reading my post. I'd love to hear about everyone else. This is one incredible website!

Also, any tips from runners or cyclists who have converted to tri would be super helpful! I am a little unsure about the training.

Excited to return to racing and to try tri,

Mike

Welcome aboard Mike. It's a good group here to associate with. Keep us up to date on your training and racing, it's nice to see you youngsters getting involved (as he says in his most distinguished 55 year old voice).

hiya Mike, and welcome!  You're gonna love it here   Have you checked out the training logs?  It is an awesome feature and a greta way to track your progress thru the season.

BTW, what are you majoring in?  We have a lot of students here, some your age, some....a bit older!

welcome mike!  look at a few training programs on the main site to see structure.  u know how far u can consistently go in the run and bike, figure out where u can comfortably start swimming and find a triathlon that is in your time frame and goals to get your swimming up to par the time needed at the end of a program.  then u can get your swimming up to the time on that program while your just 'maintaining' your bike and run times (since your already good at them)...once training in all three is looking about the same as a program, then u start building up in all 3.  makes sense?  basically just 'catching up' in swimming to the part of the program where u can currently run and bike comfortably.

Welcome Mike. I hope all your training goes well. Good luck on your first tri. I just did my first one a few months ago and now I'm hooked.
