Subject: Quick question on wetsuit vs no wetsuit....
I have finished my previous oly tri swim portion in 25 mins with no wetsuit.  What would the guesstimate in finishing time difference wearing a wetsuit?  What about full vs sleeveless?

thanks...

For a beginner swimmer it has been said 10-15 seconds/100 meters.  If you are a solid swimmer already, then it will be less than that.

So your approx a 1:30 swimmer if the course was accurate, probably not a lot of benefit.  IIRC 2-5 seconds/100 around that pace.

(on second thought that 30-75 seconds, I'd take that any day!)

When I was a 2:20 swimmer I was saving 20 sec with my sleeveless.

No idea on the full vs sleeveless.

I swam full suit last season, sleeveless this season, haven't noticed any real difference in speed...just more comfort with the sleeveless, more warmth with the full.

I can only say that I generally swim about :38 minutes for HIM distance in the pool (in jammers) and have done about :34 minutes in the OW with wetsuit.  Of course not all of the difference is due to the wetsuit, but that's a gain of over 10 seconds/100 yds.
