This might seem like a dumb question. But for my last IM, I wore a wetsuit and then both my bike and run outfit underneath, aka no changing otherthan taking off the wetsuit.

However, I see people in Kona wearing things that I can't imagine that they wore during the swim. Do people actually go through full throttle changes in IM? I mean I know it happens, but what would you wear if you couldn't wear a wetsuit for an IM? More importantly, would you change afterwards?

I'm doing IMCOZ and it's not wetsuit legal.  I plan on wearing a regular speedo bathing suit and do a full on change into bike shorts and a jersey.

For Louisville I wore a speed suit with my tri shorts on underneath. When I got to T1 I took the suit off and put on a bike jersey. Not too much of a change. Whether or not it was worth the money for a speedsuit is a whole other story.

What are you going to swim in? Speedsuit? If speedsuit why not just wear under it what you will bike/run in. Changing clothes takes a lot of time. First IM I changed top in T1 and bottoms T2, second IM no changing and I was almost 9 minutes faster in transitions.

That't the thing, I'm not sure what I will wear. As I got horribly Burned in China, I plan on wearing a long-sleeves on the bike and the run, so I'm wondering if I should just wear a bathing suit and full throttle change, or maybe a tri suit and add sleeves after the swim.

I saw the comment about the usefulness of the speedsuit - do you think it is worth it to rent a speedsuit? I can't afford to buy one - but I guess I'm just concerned because I did a triathlon in a two piece trisuit before and apaprently it became much more loose in the water and some things started popping out at one point - and I'm a little concerned about that
