Had my 305 for about 1 3/4 years. Starting to act erratically & now can't hold charge. Suspect battery is gone.I have been told that unit has to be sent to Garmin for new battery? Has anyone done this? Cost? What is usual battery life? I would consider myself a moderate user. Many thanks,

I just had to send a unit in for warranty replacement and the turn arround is about 10 working days.

I would just go to the Garmin site and ask them what the cost is, or describe the problem and see if they just replace it for you

Also make sure you get the latest software updates from the Garmin site before you begin the replacement process.

Garmin has one of the best customer service, I would call or email them, they are quite fast
