Subject: Philly Half-Marathon is Sold Out...Suggestions?
I was hoping to spend some time working on my running over the next couple months.  I thought I'd use Philly as motivation, but it is sold out.  Any suggestions as to how I might go about finding someone who is looking to sell their registration?

Usually they frown on people selling registrations, but I could be wrong. Another option would be another half in the area. I think the Lehigh Valley half was last weekend (9/13), but the Lancaster half is coming up on 10/3. The other plus to the non-Philly races is a smaller crowd, more scenic course, and lower race fee.

still a good race but not so crowded.

I am entered in the race but recently incurred an injury and will be unable to compete. Can I defer my participation to next year?

No. We do not offer deferments or refunds.

Thanks for the info.  After seeing a variety of requests for buying race registrations I thought it was acceptable.

I found a race in November.  Not a 1/2 Mary, but 15K.  They call it the "Dirty Bird".  Its the Sunday after Thanksgiving at French Creek State Park.  Anyone run this one?

Never ran that one, but have run other Pretzel City races. They are a little more on the fun/tongue-in-cheek side than your typical road race. Any one I've done has been a blast.

I had been debating on doing the half in November. Looks like it's decided.

As of last week, at least, there were still charity entries available.  There is a page on the Phila marathon web page that gives links to their associated charity web sites where you can read about the different programs.  I think most are in the fundraising range of $1,500, but Best Buddies is only asking for a minimum fundraising commitment of $450 (if you commit before 10/1).  If you donate what you would have spent on the race signing up in September, you are almost 1/4 of the way to the goal!

I did the half mary way back in 97 but liked it. flat race on the boardwalk. it is a smaller race and they have organization issues but hope they have been sorted out.
