Subject: Indoor swimming Broadlands, Ashburn

Hey all,

I have found the house and will be moving in to Broadlands, Ashburn the 1st or 2nd November, I am looking for a gym with an indoor swimming pool.  looking for somewhere suitable for winter training.  I work in Herndon so can always go near there before/after work or during lunch but Broadlands is the preference as the DCOS will also want to train.

Any ideas?

thanks....

LifeTime also has what you're looking for. Although, it's pricey compared to the earlier mentioned options. But for something like $6/mo. (per child), you have up to 2 hrs of child care per day. And they have a dedicated lap pool.

Claude Moore is nice. Have only been there a handful of times, but there are loads of lanes.

Ashburn Village Sports Pavilion isn't bad either. Although, local swim teams use their pool from about 4-7:30 every weekday, leaving only 1-2 lanes open, which are normally dedicated as "Open Lanes" instead of "Lap".

Can non-Ashburn Village residents use their facilities?   I didn't know that!

I've been to Claude Moore and the chlorine there kills my sinuses.   I belong to Lifetime on Prentice Road and love it there.   It's 10 minutes in traffic from Broadlands.  Sport & Health in Herndon may be more convenient if that's where you're working.  But it's much father from home in Broadlands.

to the original post, I joined Lifetime not long after arriving in US, took a look around from the recommendations of you guys and our new neighbors.

It is certainly what I was after.

dewybuck - one last thought for you. I live in Ashburn (Brambleton area) and joined RMST at the begining of this year.

You can find all the info here: http://www.restonmasters.org/

It takes me 25 minutes to drive from my home to the practices in Reston (non-rush hour time helps a lot). Joining RMST is the greatest Tri move I've made outside of signing up for my first race.

Any questions I'd be happy to answer.

^^^ Agree on RMST. Good coach and swimming with a masters team usually will improve your swim more than swimming alone.

I agree with joining TPR - when the Broadlands pool opens up for the summer, they have AM swims going in the 50Meter length direction of the pool which is great.  The coach is great!  They also have club rides & runs in the same area.

I also do lifetime which is great for the kids too...indoor and outdoor pools.
