Depends where you live. Here in AZ, it starts as early as March, ends by July due to the heat, and then start up again in Spetember through Nov.

Around here duathlons start in January; triathlons start in March and play out in October. Only did two my first season, didn't start swimming until July.

By the time I wrap up this year (in two weeks for the tris), I will have done ten tris and three duathlons (and a marathon (possibly two), three half-marathons, a ten-miler, a couple 10ks, and a time trial).

It will vary a bit by where you are but here - most tri's in my neck of the woods fall between june and early september. Sometimes and early/late du will be around but that forms our 'tri season'

Here in New England indoor pool-start sprints start in May.  Earliest tri with OWS is Mooseman (first week of June), water temp usually in the mid to high 50s.  Ocean-swim races continue until early Oct and mostly du's afterward, or winter multi-sports races.

Of course if you ask an Australian s/he will say the tri season starts in September.

Yep, definitely depends on where you live.  Up here in Lake Placid it's June-September.  That's it.   The lake doesn't even open up from the ice until late April at the earliest.

Although I couldn't live somewhere hot like AZ or TX, I do envy the nearly year-round season.

I raced the New England Season Opener this year: OWS on May 10 - 61 degree water.

Being my first year, and battling running injuries in the middle of the summer, I only did 2 races this year.  Not sure I could have afforded more than that anyway though.

Oh yeah, I forgot the seaon opener.
Mooseman is in middle of NH, a large lake beside the Ragged Mt ski area.  It thaws early May and the melting snow from the mountain makes it cold.

Southern California has tris between the beginning of March and Thanksgiving weekend.

In my case, I didn't do my first sprint tri until mid-September in 2007 (then did another sprint two weeks later), so that was a short "season" for me.  In my first full year, though, I did six:  1 HIM, 3 Olys, and 2 sprints.

But you're just starting winter climbing/ice climbing season up there about now..Laughing

Here in Maryland the season is april/end of September for tris - still have a half marathon and a marathon left in 2009

In my area 1st OWS tri is Mother's Day and the water is in the 50s.  The last ones are in Sept.  The season is def extended w/ pool swim tris but I like my wetsuit   Duathlons go pretty much year-round -- we have a duathlon series Dec - Feb that's fun.

There are races from April through October around here, though that's way too long for me, and July and Aug are fairly miserable months to train in.

My season is usually Jan-June, racing from April to June.  I train during rest of the year also, but usually only two sports at once (I spend more time with my family in the summer).   I may do a tri or two or three during my off season, but they are C races and I'm usually undertrained on one of the disciplines.

Up here in the land of the igloos, tri season is June to mid-September.  There are running races all year and I do know of one indoor swim tri that is held the middle of May.

This year for my first tri in June, there was still ice in the water at the end of May!!

Pretty much the same in Minnesota. Most are in June through mid-Septmeber, with a few indoor swims when the lakes are cold.

Plus a half marathon, a 5k and a 2 day bike event.

Here in South Florida it's from February 'til November. Not much of an off-season.

Yep, same here in the Mojave Desert.  Not much of an off season at all.
