Subject:Thank you, Random Person at Augusta 70.3!!!!
My first HIM, and on the bus ride over to the swim start, I lost my goggles. I was in panic-mode, asking a boat-load of ppl if they had an extra set. I was really worried b/c no one had an extra set! But wait, one SAVIOR did!
Thank you, random person!!!! I hope you get repaid x10000000!

Sometimes people are just nice. And sometimes you're lucky enough to see it. I'll bet that was a great (if somewhat unnerving!) way to start the day...

As your price of retribution, you must now carry an extra set of goggles to each triathlon in which you participate, until you find another missing goggler to lend them to.

I actually carry three pair with me. In case mine break and one other cheaper pair in case another person needs one. Just one of those things I do that can really make someone else happy if needed and make me feel good just the same.

Augusta was my 3rd Tri (first HIM). I always find it amazing that regardless on people are "feeling" the majority of participants are upbeat and friendly. gotta love the sport.

Its true there are actually nice people out there (suprise), I always find the AG'ers especially the 40+ to be the most comeptitive and perhaps selfish group of people known to man (sorry for generalisation, but at swim training and at rowing they are so serious and forget that fun and mateship is important)

Wow.....that is QUITE the generalization isn't it???

I once lent a girl my tri shorts.....yes, my shorts!! It was her very first race and she was freaking out because she realized she did not have her shorts. I was not racing, just watching a friend, but was wearing tri shorts because i was going to run while waiting for my buddy to come in off the bike course. So I offered her my shorts.........I took her baggy cotton ones and she wore mine for her race. Feels good to help someone out ............

I find that the 20-something age-groupers are the most prone to making wild generalizations.

I volunteered yesterday at the Duke 1/2 IM. I was assigned the finish chute for my first shift. My experience refutes your generalization. The 40+ AG were very appreciative! The 25-35'ers as a whole were good, but the only negative experience I had was a 28 year old dude. He would mot slow down after the finish line, ran through the tent where the other volunteers were collecting the timing chips and handing out medals, and then gave me a LOT of attitude when I asked him to return. What a DB!

awesome
I did Rhode Island 70.3 a couple of months ago ... on the bike I heard a woman yelling "does ANYONE have 650 tubes??" I pulled over and gave her one of my extra tubes. Not the most altruistic act known to man but it felt good to be able to help
