My local bike club has splintered off to start a road race team, Im planning on racing crits next year and other than the obvious ,I wanted to see from others what a team can offer a new racer.
Also can someone tell me what this means, its the new bike team name, and please keep it clean!

First official meeting was last night, around 60 riders showed up. This will be a race team that has different divisions, one for mtn bike, road, track, cross, tri. Most of the riders looked as though they weighed about what I did in high school, and they had a serious confidence, something I hope to achieve some day. I have been waiting a long time to join a group like this, I have been so frustrated with my regular bike clubs take our time, all you can eat,we own the road attitude. This looks like it will be a refreshing change! What I enjoyed about the meeting most was the willingness to help others become better! My team will be placing an order for our kits in the next week, when I get my stuff I will post up a "Jersey Porn" thread.

Good for you!  Today I let myself get talked into joining our bike club's racing team.  Kinda scary, but a good opportunity to practice time trialing.  No crits for me, just TTs and hill climbs.

Get out on some group rides, those will build up your confidence and you'll want to try out some road races : )

What I'm enjoying about my team is the experience the veteran riders are willing to share, that and knowing that I am truly the slowest rider on my team, for me there is much upside to getting allot better! Also I enjoy a change of pace not having to stop every 15 minutes that is becoming way to typical on my regular bike club a/b/c group rides.
