Subject: G'Day from Oz!
Hi,
Sorry for the cliche' subject line Laughing

I've recently discovered this awesome site and to say I am obsessed is an understatement!

I come from a competitive swimming background and when I was 10 and watching a triathlon on TV, I made a promise to myself that I would become a triathlete before I turned 30 (I had read somewhere that female athletes hit their peak endurance in their 30's-don't know if that's true!

Swimming got put on hold 11 years ago when I became a Mum and now 5 children later, I'm ready to get back into it all.

I've done a couple of enticers and a sprint and am now in training for an OD, with the main goal a HIM late next year. I really need to work on running though, I am slow but not in this to win, just to have fun and get my kids involved in an active lifestyle too.

Thanks for reading!

Ahlanna.

Hi Ahlanna,

Welcome to BT - sound like you are right on track to achieve your goals (and super motivated too!)

It really is about you achieving your own goals, whatever they are, you are not racing anyone but yourself

Take Care

Welcome and good luck.  Your swimming background will be gold for you.  You will find out most people dread the swim.  Keep up all the good work.

G'day Ahlanna. It's always great to find another Australian here. I'm from just northwest of Melbourne.
It should be fun trying to fit all this around 5 kids. Have fun.Which olympic distance race are you doing?
Hope to hear more from you.

No worries!

(I got to spend a couple weeks in Oz a few years ago, maybe going back in 2010).

Where in Oz?

Thanks for all your replies!

I am an hour north of Melbourne, near Seymour but have previously only lived in North Queensland. We are dying in the cold weather!

I'm doing the Sandringham OD and the Triathlon Pink a few weeks after that. Alot of people have said that I'm crazy doing an Olympic Distance and not sticking to Sprints for a few more seasons but that only makes me more motivated.  Also contemplating joing a Tri club, they're all about an hour away but it would make for a nice day away.

I'm contemplating the Sandringham race too. I'mbeing a little more conservative than ypu tho'. I'm doing a couple of sprints first. Maybe I'll see you there.
