For the Melbourne Healthsouth Tri next weekend, where does the swim begin?  Also, looking out at the river can you give me an idea on how far a .25 mile river swim is?  This will be my first tri and I'm doing the sprint.  Not to concerned with the bike or run but like most first timers scared to death of the swim.  Thanks for the help!  Steve

A .25 mile swim is definately doable!  Don't worry, you'll be fine.  I did my first tri a month ago and was most worried about the swim.  If you can doggy paddle, you can do it!!!  Good luck and have fun!!!!!

The swim start on the left side of the EG pier and will be a triangle roughly 100-150 yards out, turn right and other 150 or so and then back to the pier on the right side.  Let the wave start out a bit, 10 seconds or so won't hurt and then go.

Good luck.  I'll have "BT" written on my right calf and will be wearing the same trisuit as in my avatar, say hi if you see me.  Looking forward to racing in the heat wave!

Weather delayed in COS, hopefully I will get in tonight, looking like about 2 AM, then packet pickup...  Should be a relaxed day, since nothing I can do about it.....
