Pre-race routine:

Medium bowl of cerial for breakfast about three hours before the race. Banana about 2-1/2 hours before the race. Laid out transition areas. Watched the early waves of swimming.

Event warmup:

Stretched, 10 minutes on spinning bike, .25 mile on treeadmill, laps in warm pool.
Swim
  • 10m 32s
  • 500 yards
  • 02m 07s / 100 yards
Comments:

Felt terrible. I got too excited, went too fast, and never did catch my breath. Lots of time in sweet spot. However, my time was very good.
What would you do differently?:

Stay calmer and get in a rythym like in practice.
Transition 1
  • 01m 40s
Comments:

Transition went well except forgot to put HRM on before my shirt. Forgot to drink water.
What would you do differently?:

Drink water.
Bike
  • 45m 31s
  • 10.85 miles
  • 14.30 mile/hr
Comments:

Headwind on the biggest hill was a killer. My chain came of the chainring but was able to get it back on without stopping. Other than that it was a very good ride. Probably did the best I can.
What would you do differently?:

Teke bike back to shop until they get the front derailer adjusted right. Try and drink a little more water.
Transition 2
  • 00m 40s
Comments:

Had a problem with the pedals. I unclipped both sides and when I slung my leg around to get off, the other foot clipped in again. I tipped over. Another year with a skinned knee. Yankz are awesome. Forgot to drink water. Legs felt pretty good when I started running.
What would you do differently?:

Practice more with pedals. Drink!!
Run
  • 33m 30s
  • 3.34 miles
  • 10m 02s  min/mile
Comments:

Run went very well. Kept up a fast pace. Probably can't do much better.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked it off then sat down for a while.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Training and age.

Event comments:

My third triathlon. I think I was in somewhat better shape this year since I am training for an Oly in July. The race probably went as well as possible. The bike time would have been much better without the wind. Very happy about the race.

Glad you had a good race.  I have to admit I'm still chuckling about the pedal problem.  I'm sure it wasnt' funny at the time - sorry it seems funny now - because it could SOOO easily happen to me

good luck with the oly!
