i don't work for them, or get a discount for doing this but e*gel rocks!

i've never been able to 'stomach' gels, infact they usually come up immediately after intake,  but this stuff is awesome, i've been using it ever since fromer gave me some at a 10K a month or so ago.  it's not carried in any stores around me but they offer free shipping and they have great online deals.  it has electrolytes in it, and it's low in sugar so some diabetics can use it. it's way better than what i attempted to use before.  just thought it might help some other people out there.

A low sugar gel?  What does it actually have in it?  Got a web site with some info?

Trixie, we must have opposite gut tolerances or something. I can handle most any other gel, but these made me want to barf. I have 22 gels out of a 24 pack box.  Do ya want 'em? I can send them in a padded envelope or something.

I love them. I have a sponsorship from Crank Sports (the makers of e•gel) and I have a tonn of them. They have almost I think 5x as much sodium as Powergels, and I think they taste really good, but salty.

I'm going to have to try them...I don't handle sports drinks well at all, and I don't want to try to mess with electrolyte tablets during a race.

Since I buy so many of them, my LBS now gives me a discount on the Crank e-gel. The positives of this gel are that they actually taste good, provide me with enough energy, and are easy to open with a little practice on the bike. The other side is that (at least for me) I have to drink more water with them than with other gels, and they get very sticky if you miss your mouth and get it all over your hands and bike. For me, the positives far outweigh the negatives. I love 'em.

These are a long distance product though, right? I mean, who needs that much salt except ironman competitors. Oly races really don't require much nutrition besides 1 water bottle of energy drink.

In order to get me around 50g of carbs per hour I supplement the sports drink with the gel. I don't like (or at least my stomache doesn't) a real concentrated sports drink when I am in HR zones 4 or higher.

I also use the gels when my motivation starts to dwindle. I have found that it helps me to regain focus, either on the bike or run.

I do.

I used to get nauseated and then not be able to eat/drink for a few hours (I'd be hungry but my stomach would feel locked up) any time I would run over 30 minutes or ride over about an hour. Especially in any kind of heat. Finally started experiementing with electrolyte replacement after discussing my symptoms with a few people and they suggested it could be I needed salt. Then I realized that after exercise I could actually BE a salt lick. My skin is that salty after training. Now, for any planned effort above 30 minutes, I'll take a salt tab before, or an e*gel, or put the powder stuff in my water bottle. It's helped me out a LOT.
