Hello all, I just bought a Quarq power meter for my bike and need to decide which power meter to get for the bike.  It looks like the Garmin 705 would work but then I would have to wear 2 different HR straps ;-).  I don't want to have to give up my polar watch for the rest of the race and run a 310XT.  I can see myself dropping the unit while switching between wrist and bike.
1. 705 without hr and use my polar watch and hr
2. Run a 310XT exclusively and hope I charged it and don't drop it while switching
3. Other?
Do I have any other choices?

I just stopped by the bike shop and they have a Trek Node 2 that can display the ANT+ compatible power signal, for only $150.  I may do this in the mean time.  It still does not solve the HR issues as the Trek uses an ANT+ HR monitor not compatible with my Polar watch.

I ahve a quarq and 705 and use a 305 for the run, but check out this:

https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?cID=160&pID=36728

than buy a 305 for like 150....your all in for $450.

attached the 305 to your race belt before the race.  When you get off your bike, put on your shoes, pick up race belt as you have to do anyway, and go.  once you get the belt attached hit start.

That is what I do, except I use the 705.

I know it doesnt solve your issue with keeping your polar, but at least you only have 1 strap.

FYI, the 500 has no mapping on it.  handy feature to have if you get lost on long bike rides...705 is great for this.  Not that I've ever gotten lost on a long ride....Wink
