Pre-race routine:

Woke up at 4:30 and put on race clothes. My wife and I had a good breakfast and headed to Boulder at 5:30. Hit traffic in Boulder. Got to my parking spot by super 8 and we kind of took our time, went to the bathroom, then started to jog to the start line 2 miles away. We stopped at Burger King to use the restroom one more time. We were now cutting it close to get to the start line at 7:07:30. That is when wave CA was starting. We had to walk a bit because my wifes stomach was cramping, we ate too late, uh oh. We were still several blocks away from the start and it was now 7:00 on the dot. We picked up the pace abit to get there and drop off our sweat shirts and pants at the mobile locker. They were no where to be found. We saw the sign for wave D. Our wave was 2 groups away from going. We quickly took off our over clothes and stuffed them in the fence. Now we had to come back and get them. Kissed my wife and said good luck and BANG the starter gun went off. We barly made in time.
Event warmup:

2 mile run to the start.

Comments:

We started off at about 7:30 pace according to my GPS. We trucked along nicely. There was this little 8 or 9 year old girl with her dad. They were from Pomania, and he was puhing her hard. They beat us by the way. Unbelievable. We got to about mile 4 and I had to go to the bathroom real bad. So I stoppped and went. That sounds funny. I then had to haul ass to catch up to my wife, people were giving me a hard time because I was blasting by them. I caught up to her a short time later. We got to the final hill and kicked it in gear. We passed a lot of people, then it was a sprint in in the stadium. My wife was hauling ass. I could not keep up. She beat me by 1 second. She did very awesome and it was a great race. This was her first ever 10K. I am proud of her.
What would you do differently?:

My wife said she could have gone harder, so next time we will.
Post race
Warm down:

Jog back to the start line about a mile and 1/2

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Cramping.

Event comments:

Great expo at the finish. This is the largest 10K in the country and the 5 largest race in the country.

Wow - that was your wife's first 10K??? That's amazing! Congratulations to her (and you, of course)! So, were your clothes still in the fence when you got back to the start line?

Congrats. My wife's first 10k was the Bolder Boulder a couple of years ago. It was always my favorite race.

Your wife was cool the one time I met her (for a few minutes), but she's FAST too!  Too funny that you couldn't catch her at the end! LOL!  Good race for  both of you!

Nice run!!! If my wife was as fast as yours, she probably would have made sure that I didn't catch her after the bathroom break
