I've been considering joining a club, and just saw the notice for this... sounds interesting.
They're having an initial meeting this Sunday.

Did you check them out? what did you think?  I've been contemplating joining as well, but not sure there will really be a benefit.

I didn't end up going to the meeting. $275 for joining/race kit was a little too steep for me right now, and I train better by myself generally speaking. Sounded like a good group of people though, and it would be great to have some comrades to race with. Maybe next year. Definitely worth checking out again in the future.

You could try the Geckos. We do swim training on Saturdays at Parkrose. There's other opportunities as well. OWS later, bike rides, runs.  http://www.geckotriclub.com/  This weekend, after the swim, there's a pancake breakfast and a ride. Sounds fun, but not as fun as my vacation, so I won't be there this time.

It looks like they also have some group training events  for the club (vs. the race team).  The club is only $34.  Anybody gone to their sessions?

Hi,

I joined the club recently and would highly recommend them. The club membership is $34 and you can join all the workouts, meetings and take advantage of all the club discounts. I've attended one meeting, the pre-meeting work out and several of the Tuesday night track workouts at Duniway Park. Check them out at http://www.pdxtriclub.org/ and come to the next meeting or one of the workouts, I bet you'll really like it!
