Did everyone else get the email from Sportspectrum?

A 0.0769% chance of winning a new car. I am pumped.

Anyway. I called Monjuni's, both on Youree and on Benton Road (Hwy 3). Both had large groups booked for that night, so they couldn't fit us in.

I also called Macaroni Grill. They will reserve tables for groups of 8-12, but not larger, so we would have to have 2 or 3 different groups of tables.

The other thing we could do is go to the 1st Annual YMCA Pasta dinner that was talked about in the email. If you didn’t read the email yet it says:
The Broadmoor YMCA will be hosting the 1st Annual River Cities Pasta Party on Saturday from 5:30 – 8:00PM. It is an all you can eat pasta, sauce, salad, bread dessert, water, tea, and lemonade. The price is $10 for adults and $5.00 for children under 12. The Broadmoor YMCA is located approximately 1.5 miles north of Sportspectrum on Youree Drive (LA Hwy 1) on Carroll Street.

The money collected from the dinner will provide underprivileged children the opportunity to participate in the YMCA youth sports programs. Tickets can be purchased by calling 318-674-9635, at packet pickup, and at the door. Also, all River Cities Triathlon Participants and families are allowed to use the facilities and pools all weekend free of charge reguardless of purchasing a dinner ticket. Hours and direction to the Broadmoor YMCA can be found on the internet at www.shreveportymca.org.

So let me know if you want to do Macaroni Grill or YMCA.

Thanks for forwarding the email, Mike.

I had a  panic attack and emailed the RD to see if I was registered. They emailed me back almost immediately to say I was, and that aol was blocking the email.

Folks,

I will be there with you guys, but I am coming into town with some friends and they have already made plans for us.  I don't know if anyone has mentioned that if you get to the course early you will have access to closer parking.  Drop by and see me in the Clydesdale area.  We are usually easy to pick out.

Hey Michael!!  I too am a Clyde, and I've read your book four times.  In fact, it was your book that got me to sign up for River Cities, and that kept me motivated to keep this training going in the early weeks when I wasn't sure I was cut out for it.  A fellow clyde and lifelong friend of mine who wants to get into tri now has my copy of the book, and I want it back!!

I'll be honored to meet you!

Guys this is going to be a tough race on me.  I have not triained as I have in the past years, but this year has been about finishing.  Life seems to be settling down, and I seem to be getting into a better workout routine, but it's going to be hot!  One suggestion that my former coach made to me is to freeze a water bottle and put it on my bike right before the start of the race.  When I get on the bike course I squirt it on my head to help keep my core temp down.  It seems to help a little.

If someone has a camera, maybe we could get all the BT members together for a pre race photo.

Thanks for the tip on the frozen bottle.  And as far as being about finishing this year, it will be a blast to finish with you.  I am a slow swimmer, a slow cyclist, and a slow runner, who is having a great time doing all three!  I'll be bringing up the rear in Shreveport, but I'm ok with that!

OK, looks like the three little bears will be along with us, so with Mrs. bear and I, there will be five of us.

Have we decided if it would be Macaroni Grill or YMCA for dinner? I'm OK either way, do we need to make arrangements?

I called Mac. Grill and talked with them about making reservations. They said that they will take reservations for a group of 12, but can only take one reservation an hour.

I went ahead and made reservations for 6pm under my name and 7pm under Brandt's name.

Right now I am counting 14 of us:
Gina
Will + 1
Bear + 4
Brandt + 1
Christie
Kanoe
Me + 1

If that is it, there should be enough room for us at one table. We would need to decide whether to meet at 6 or 7.

If anyone else signs up, we could just go the YMCA. It might be easier logistically to go there anyway, but I don't have a clue about what their food would be like.

Any thoughts?

MG would give us more variety of food to please more people. If need be, I can reserve a seperate table for the bear clan, just let me know.

I'm OK with either time, slightly prefer 6 to be able to get out and to bed early.

Does that mean we have the room for two hours? sounds kinda sneeky to me.. I like it!

The wife and I are up for whatever..

Another question for those of you who have been to this Tri before..

We are planning on bringing one of those pop-up canopy things for wife and dog to chill under while i'm out riding and running...

Will there be a place to set it up?

will, are you bringing the cowbell? I heard that the race needs more cowbell. As a matter of fact, Shreveport, all of north Louisiana, needs more cowbell.
