What time are we meeting at packet pick up?

Just in case things get crazy at packet pick-up and we are caught in line, etc, my cell phone number is 956-433-1520.  If anyone else wants to swap numbers, you can PM me or whatever.  I'll check the board one more time before I leave DFW in the morning.  good night, and I look forward to meeting all of you!

Woke up at 5:30 this morning and my first thought was, "You idiot, there's no way you're going to make it to Shreveport by the 8 o'clock start." Took me a few moments to realize that the race is tomorrow and today's the travel day.

Out in thirty myself.

Cutoff time for the race is 11:30.
You can trade the Element for another color or another Honda model.

#1208- Athena. Great. Put the slow folks last, so they have less time and there's no food left.

GREAT event....had a blast and enjoyed meeting everyone.  Improved my pace in all three disciplines compared to TriAmerica, so I am very pleased. (we won't talk about transition right now...he he he)

I was doing good on the bike, so it makes me sad. I think I could have hit 1:45

Michael...I am so sorry to hear it man.  I had no idea until we were halfway to Dallas and Chris told me.  Since I saw you running, I never knew you had the problems on the bike.  Keep your head up and give 'em heck next year.

It was a pleasure meeting you and your wife...I am happy for you with the new arrival on the way!  Keep up the work with the youth, too....you are a blessing to them!

Talk to you soon,

Brandt

Can't believe I didn't find any of you. I looked and accosted a couple of Javelin's who weren't any of you. Also looked for the 2 numbers I had from board. Anyway, great race, anxious to see results for everyone. I was 1:41:41 so i missed the 1:40 but I did improve about 1 minute and 30 seconds off last year, all of it on the run. I will work harder at Cajun Man to meet some of ya'll.

How long was the bike? The website says 18.2 miles, Angel swears the announcer said 18.6. Website results have my avg. speed at 22.5mph, but if I use 18.2 it's a more realistic 22.0.

Bike computer is screwy, has like 23.05 with all the running in transition and the walk to the car.

My computer was showing 18.3 miles.  Good to see you guys and gals.  I was moved to age group and didn't think it was a bad idea, becuse of the heat.  I swear the it was the most violet swim that I have been in.  PR'd on the swim sucked on everything else.  But I had the mind set of finishing and I did that.  Congrats to all you speedsters and sorry I didn't have a tube I could have accidently dropped for you Mr. Newton.

I think next time I am a spectator I am going to carry extra tubes and CO2 in my bag. Its hard to recognize people with their helmets and sunglasses on, but I did see a few people walking with their bikes. Maybe next time I can just throw the spares in front of them.

Great job everyone!

Anyone hear about the guy who lost a toe?

I heard someone say that a guy was coming into the bike dismount area, got tangled up, and lost a toe.

My wife said that she saw the medics with a guy whose foot was wrapped, but I didn't know if anyone else heard/saw what actually happened.

Ouch.. I must have missed all of that..

Although I'm not too suprised because the mount/dismount area was pretty small..

There was a guy down in the dismount area when I came through, making it even smaller and more congested. Gotta wonder how you lose a toe, maybe he was out the shoes and caught it barefoot somewhere on the bike, spokes or chain?

Will, the official results have me at 22.5 mph, if you use my time and the distance Angel heard (18.6 miles), then it comes up to that 22.5. I'm going with the stated distance of 18.2 miles, which gives me an average of 22 even. Might be a question to email the race director.

Will/Bear

The results definitely calculate bike speed from a 18.6 mile ride. They did the same thing last year. I think bear is on target using 18.2 as I had 18.3 including run in and run out.
