Northern NJ bike rides/Hoboken

Thanks, I know the store and it is definitely doable.  My girlfriend and I are relative beginners so I would be interested in knowing how it goes for you Sunday.  I just won't want to hold anyone back and 40 miles at avg speed 17 (not sure where I am with speed right now).  Can you let me know ?

Will do!  This Sunday's is the last on the calendar for now, I hope they keep rides going as long as the weather holds. This will be my 1st group ride as well. 

Why not hit up the west side bike path in Manhattan?  There is also a ride in central park this weekend.  I think I saw something on www.sbrshop.com

Yeah, we will be doing NYC path, although round trip tix on the ferry come to $30 for both of us (possibly more if they charge for bikes). 

dont follow 9w all the way to the bridge. you need to cut down to the river at piedmont. it gets a bit rough as you get closer to bear mt but thats over 100miles round trip from hoboken. otherwise, best around here to ride.

Thanks beyourself, we will try that.  Rode up to Alpine yesterday and that was great, 30 miles round trip to Hoboken and River Road was the only part I didn't like and that wasn't bad for long.  Palisades Park was awesome.

Mchubri-how was the ride from Parsippany ?

The Swamp run from Parsippany was great!  It is a very relaxed group of riders, we had between 6 and 8, a few guys met us mid rout and others split the group and rode home.  The rout is very flat, just shy of 40 miles total. We stopped at a deli at the 1/2 way point for 10 min or so and Andy, the ride leader was great checking up on everyone and made sure no one laged behind.  As advertised, it was about a 17 -18 mph avg at some points a few of us pushed harder and at other points we were chillin at 12-14 mph. 

This was my 1st time doing this ride, there was 1 other rider new to the ride. When I pulled up to the parking lot in the AM I asked if I could join and everyone was very friendly and welcoming.  There seems to be a core of 3-4 guys and they say they have a few new faces every week.  They do this ride year round, every sunday at 11, unless it is raining/snowing or the temp is below 20. I will be doing this ride every sunday I can, can't this weekend.  I highly recomend it.
