Any body ever try swim golf? I read it about it somewhere, and it goes as follows: you swim a 50 mtrs/yards and add the number of strokes to the number of seconds it took to complete. That's your score.....The coach recommended that you need to shoot for 80 or below (for 50 yds) as that is what a 13 yr. old in his program would do.....well, damn, I tried that yesterday in about 4-5 different approaches, sometimes lenthening stroke, some times speeding it up, and I ended up at 90 pretty much each time (no diving, no flip turn). Not a bad way to gauge your efficiency from time to time, a nice composite between speed/effort/efficiency....I guess that 13 yr. old is kicking my butt....

Yes, this is a great way to judge your improvement in swimming. If you do a golf set once every other week or so, you'll definitely see those numbers coming down, meaning that you are swimming faster by exerting less effort.

It's a great way to play with your speed vs. length of stroke and soon you'll find a good balance of the two. My personal best so far this year is 49 (20 strokes, 29 seconds), but that's with a flip turn and slightly extended underwater push offs from the wall.
