yep,
Subject: Whats your time??? (swimming 100m time)

So the other day my swimming coach had us do an "all out" time trial for 100m to get a guage for next season.  I was 2nd out of our group that morning with a 1:24, which I thought was pretty quick compared to others.

So how fast can you do it?  Now this is only one set not repeat sets.

I'm not the fastest, but not the slowest either.

I usually can swim 1:30 - 1:35 or so, continuous.

I have done a 1:17 in an all out sprint at the end of a workout once just to see how fast I could go.  I never tried one fresh, to be honest.

Fastest I've ever actually timed myself for one stand-alone 100yd was 1:29. (This is without flip turns, I just do open turns - haven't done a flip turn since I was 10).

I'm right around these times as well.

I just did an indoor Tri with a 10 minute swim in a 25 yard pool and was right at 1:30s per 100 yards without diving in and I do not flip turn.  RPE was an 8 out of 10 I'd say.  I have done a 1:10 or so in training while doing repeat 100s and went "all-out" just for fun.

Last year I did a 1:17 in an all out 100 yard shot.

Now I might be able to break into the 1:2X range if I were lucky.

Absolutely flat-out, probably somewhere around 1:10, but I used to do 1:02 when I was a club swimmer as a kid.

For someone who is not from a competitive swimming background, anything under 1:30 is pretty good.

1:05 for 100 Yards short course

Would love to give it a go on a meter long course. Turns probably slow me down.

Starting on the blocks or from the wall? Makes a BIG difference.

From the wall I have gone 1:08/100 yards, not meters, during a workout set. I've never just done one fresh to see how fast I could go.

I have not timed a single, stand alone, all out 100yd sprint. I did do 8x100 fast recently and came out with an average of 1:28

I swim short course yards, and I haven't tried an all-out 100 yet, but for comparison sake, I did do 3 1:35's to start out my set of 100's this morning.. which was too fast as I wasn't able to maintain that.  Also, for an all-out 100, I'd kick vastly different than I do in normal training as I don't have to worry about saving my legs (or getting used to swimming a stroke style which saves my legs)  6 beat vs 2 beat.. and probably kick a lot more after pushing off the wall, so does it really matter?

In college I would go sub :55's SC and sub 1:00 LC.

I havent timed myself in a long long long time (15yrs). Mostly out of fear of discouraging myself by seeing where Im at compared to where I used to be.

My fastest is 1:42, done finishing 8 sets of 100m negative intervals w/ 30s rest.  I don't do flip turns, either.  Pretty slow, but I'm improving.

Best I've done is 1:23 in a 25 yd pool no flip turns. Over a long distance I'm much slower than that.
