Subject: Achilles tendonitis
I think I have tendonitis of my A tendon. I have all of the classic symtoms and I have been doing all of the wrong things like not stretching properly and over doing it. This is the first I have experienced this-
What should I expect for a recovery time?

For each person it is different. Visit www.smiweb.org They have an injury prevention guide that will be helpful.

I am on the final days of my Achilies Tendonitis injury I received from pushing too hard over the past month in prep for my Oly. I had a slight A. T. warning the days before the Oly, but decided to run the tri anyhow. It has been 2 weeks and I am just about ready to start my walk/run re-entry into running again.

The things I learned:

1: Ice it many times a day, maybe six times (does wonders)
2: DO NOT STRETCH IT OUT, yes, I'm yelling because you might think this would help, it doesen't, it makes healing take much longer.
3: Look at getting a heal lift for your walking shoes while you recover, lifting your heal will relieve the pain, pressure on the A. T.
4: Don't rush it, if you do, it might be months out of pocket instead of weeks.

Good luck, you have the rest of your life to train, let the injury heal
