Turkey Trot = 5K PR

 165  |  Subject: Turkey Trot = 5K PRI've always been slow when it come to running. 9 min miles seems to be my speed regardless of distance. Recently been working on losing some weight and heading into 2010 as a non-clydesdale. This morning I ran a 5K in 25:00. The faster for me ever. Maybe it was the promise of a great dinner later or beer with football. Regardless, I now will be aiming for 24:00. I expect speed with come with consistent training and dropping more weight. The cool weather definately helps me also. Have a great thanksgiving all. |

I've been immersed in the triathlon world for a few years and lay out my targets based on pushing myself and incremental improvements. My first half marathon goal was two hours (met it). First HIM was six hours (missed by three minutes the first time but met it by 7 minutes the next time around). I know I have a 5:30 HIM in me and its only about ten more pounds and a whole lot of training away. I know I'll never be a seven minute mile runner, but I believe eight is within my grasp. I love the sport and the community. |
